As someone who has spent a lot of time living in big cities urban photography sessions have a special place in my heart. Here are some of my favorite Indianapolis urban locations for photography sessions.

Monument Circle Indianapolis Proposal

Monument Circle & War MemoriaL

In 2019 I had the chance to photograph an engagement and extended family photography down at Monument Circle. It was so much fun to be in the center of this beautiful city witnessing a special moment between two families. I love this location for all of the amazing limestone and architecture. If you pair this location with the War Memorial you can get a variety of looks at the city and the skyline. I love being downtown in Indianapolis and photography sessions in this area are always popular!

Fountain Square

Probably my favorite spot in Indianapolis for craft coffee and local eats! The Fountain Square neighborhood has lively streets filled with color, texture and perfect pockets of light. The views of the Indianapolis skyline are perfection. The location makes it a great spot for a photography session followed by a yummy dinner downtown or brunch after a sunrise session.

Lockerbie Square

This little nugget of a neighborhood is tucked off the main hustle and bustle of Mass Ave. The cobblestone streets and cute little houses make it a perfect urban location for young families without worrying about the kiddos around busy traffic. Perfect anytime of day as the tree lined streets provide shelter from harsh sunlight.

Broad Ripple

I called the Broad Ripple neighborhood home for a few years and it is one of my favorites for Indianapolis photography as well. The endless alleys and side streets make it a perfect location to explore. I like to recommend this location for couples, seniors and families with older children, as it can sometimes be a bit busy (too much traffic) for young children. Afterwards grab a drink at one of the local pubs or an ice cream cone along the Monon Trail.

Downtown Zionsville

Maybe the most adorable downtown neighborhood in Indianapolis. This little stretch of town reminds me of walking back in time to a traditional main street in a small community. They have cobblestone streets, plenty of brick walls, colorful buildings and wrought iron gates. Paired with nearby green spaces and some gorgeous evening light this location is tough to beat anytime of year (even in the snow!). Once you photos are finished, check out the Salty Cowboy for some of the best Mexican food in town!

Downtown Noblesville

Traditional and quaint is how I would describe this small town square. There are plenty of little alleys and of course the beautiful courthouse at the center of town which provide a lovely setting for family photography. After your photography session you can grab a delicious coffee or craft beer at some of the fabulous small businesses right off the square.
